Noise11.com revealed the secret identity of Tangerine Kitty. They are Ollie McGill from The Cat Empire and Emily Lubitz of Tinpan Orange.

Just six days after going viral the video has generated over 11 million YouTube views, 3,000,000 plus of those has been in the last 24 hours. UPDATE: Tangerine Kitty does another 6 million views in 2 days.

Tangerine Kitty was commissioned by ad agency McCann Group to create the song for Melbourne’s Metro Trains.

The popularity of the song was a surprise to Emily. “I don’t know why it’s gone viral. I don’t know why anything goes viral… Its a really cute song and a cool cartoon and people love that kinda thing. But to tell you the truth, the human condition and the ways of the internet baffle me equally,” she said.
