50 Cent has been charged with assaulting the mother of his child.

The 37-year-old rapper, real name Curtis Jackson III, could face up to five years in jail on charges stemming from a domestic violence incident on June 23, the Los Angeles Times reports.

According to the newspaper, authorities were called to a Toluca Lake, California home where the victim locked herself in her bedroom during a heated argument.

Jackson reportedly “kicked open the door and kicked her”, authorities told the outlet.

The woman’s property was also allegedly damaged.

The rapper was not at the scene when police arrived.

He was charged with one count of domestic violence and four counts of vandalism.

In addition to the jail time, Jackson could face up to $53,100 in fines for allegedly injuring the victim and destroying property.

Investigators reported broken chandeliers, furniture, a television and lamp at the scene.

According to the Times, Jackson and the unnamed victim were previously involved in a three-year relationship.

Prosecutors told the outlet they share one child.

TMZ claims the accuser is not the mother of the rapper’s teenage son, Shaniqua Tompkins, but another woman with whom he shares a younger child.

Jackson never publicly acknowledged having a second child although there were rumours of him becoming a dad again last fall.

The rapper’s arraignment is scheduled for July 22 at Van Nuys Superior Court.
