Aerosmith Play First Australian Show Since 1990 For Stone Fest

Aerosmith performed their first Australian show since 1990 at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium in Homebush on Saturday before starting their own shows with The Dead Daisies.

Aerosmith was a late addition to the Stone Music Festival. Their first Australian show was originally scheduled for next weekend in Sydney but was sold on by promoter Andrew McManus as an exclusive Sydney performance for Stone Fest.

Instead of next week’s Sydney show Aerosmith will now perform their own mini-festival at Melbourne Myer Music Bowl with The Dead Daisies, Diva Demolition, Spiderbait, Wolfmother and Grinspoon.

Australian supergroup The Dead Daises released their debut song ‘Lock ‘N Load’ through iTunes on Friday. The song ‘Lock ‘N Load’ was co-written by lead singer Jon Stevens (Noiseworks) and Slash.

Aerosmith performed a complete set at Stone Fest last night and paid tribute to the bombing victims from their hometown on Boston during the show.

The Aerosmith setlist at the Stone Music Festival was:

Draw The Line (from Draw The Line, 1977)
Love In An Elevator (from Pump, 1989)
Jaded (from Just Push Play, 2001)
Oh Yeah (from Music from Another Dimension, 2012)
Cryin’ (from Get A Grip, 1993)
Livin’ On The Edge (from Get A Grip, 1993)
Last Child (from Rocks, 1976)
Rag Doll (from Permanent Vacation, 1987)
Stop Messin’ Around (from Honkin On Bobo, 2004)
What It Takes (from Pump, 1989)
No More No More (from Toys In The Attic, 1975)
I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing (from Armageddon soundtrack 1998)
Come Together (from Sgt Pepper soundtrack 1978)
Dude (Looks Like A Lady) (from Permanent Vacation, 1987)
Walk This Way (from Toys In The Attic, 1975)

Dream On (from Aerosmith, 1973)
Sweet Emotion (from Toys In The Attic, 1975)

Remaining shows for Aerosmith with The Dead Daisies are:

April 28, Melbourne, Sidney Myer Music Bowl
May 1, Brisbane, Entertainment Centre
May 4, Melbourne, Rod Laver Arena

James Taylor Farewells Australia With Final Tour (Melbourne Review)

I could go to a James Taylor show just for the stories. The man is a part of music history and is still around to tell the tales of how it all began. Like, for instance, being the first artist signed to Apple Records. James “auditioned” for Apple with his song ‘Something In The Way She Moves’. "Paul went away and started the label and George went away and wrote the song”, he said.
