Angus & Julia Stone, The Church and Ball Park Music are amongst the first Australian acts to be chosen to showcase at SXSW in Austin, Texas in 2015.

For Angus & Julia Stone it will be a return trip after the brother and sister duo launched their third album at the world’s biggest music festival this year.

Veteran Australian rock act The Church have also been chosen to speak at SXSW 2015 as part of the music conference and will launch their 25th album ‘Further/Deeper’ at the event.

“The quality of applications was very high and it paid off for those who applied early,” says SXSW Australian rep Phil Tripp. “We’ve closed submissions now and are going through more with a likely announcement of at least 30 acts before December 1”.

With veteran and established acts such as The Stones and The Church alongside Australia’s next great hope Courtney Barnett and newcomers The Gooch Palms, Luluc and Twerps, Tripp sees real diversity in Australia’s 2015 participants. “It’s a kicking list of both established bands and up and coming artists which comes at a time when our waves are crashing loudly on foreign shores and through festivals overseas.” he said.
