Annie Lennox always worries about whether her daughters will like her music.

The former Eurthymics frontwoman has taken her career in a new direction with her new album Nostalgia, which sees her ‘reinvent’ beloved tracks.

And Annie admits she is constantly concerned about what her daughters Lola and Tali will make of her offerings.

‘My daughters love the album,’ Annie said during an interview on British TV programme The One Show. ‘They are into music and they have been very, very supportive. I’m always like, ‘I wonder if they’ll like it, I wonder if they’ll approve’.

‘They would be honest with me, they would tell me if they didn’t like something ‘ they always have been. So when I get the seal of approval from them it’s a nice thing, it’s good.’

On Nostalgia, Annie uses her distinctive voice to perform tunes including Summertime and I Put a Spell on You.

However, she is quick to insist that the record is not a covers album, but instead is her own interpretation of the famous songs.

‘A cover is a little bit like karaoke really. You have a backing track and you just sing along, and it’s easy, very simple,’ Annie explained. ‘I’ve done a few albums now that haven’t been my own material and for me I love interpreting the songs and trying to create something quite different and also that it belongs to you ‘ to make it your own sound and your own signature. This is a labour of love and it’s taken months to do.’
