APRA Announces Art Music Awards 2013

APRA will hold the 3rd Art Music Awards in Sydney in August.

The Art Music Awards, formerly known as the Classical Awards, recognises works in classical, jazz and experimental music.

The Art Music Awards consists of 12 national awards and individual State/Territory awards. Categories include composition, performance and outstanding contributions.

AMC CEO John Davis said in a statement, “There is much to celebrate across these areas of Australian music making, exceptional achievements by outstanding artists, presenters and educators, often in challenging circumstances. We have much to be proud of.”

The 2013 will be hosted by Australian jazz great James Morrison at the Parade Theatre, NIDA on August 26.

NATIONAL CATEGORIES FOR THE 2013 ART MUSIC AWARDS
• Work of the Year: Orchestral
• Work of the Year: Instrumental
• Work of the Year: Vocal/Choral
• Work of the Year: Jazz
• Performance of the Year
• Award for Excellence by an Organisation
• Award for Excellence by an Individual
• Award for Excellence in Music Education
• Award for Excellence in a Regional Area
• Award for Excellence in Experimental Music (for works, people or events)
