Arcade Fire Debut New Songs At Secret Hometown Gig

Arcade Fire are beginning to crank up their gears again with new material hitting stages in various parts of the world at various times.

The band played a gig on Sunday night (December 2) at Breakglass Studios in their hometown of Montreal playing all new material, none of which seems to have hit the internet yet.

Twitter/YouTube user ArcadeFireTube said on Twitter that the “new songs generally described as fun, dance-y and groovy. Blowing off some steam from the studio recording sessions?”

“Doubt there’ll be any photos and videos forthcoming. Probably at the band’s request. Mostly their friends there,” they added.

Other than that, there isn’t a whole lot of information about what happened at the gig. It sounds like it was ultra-secretive and probably completely unknown to all but a few lucky enough to be in the loop, but it is good to know that there is movement in the Arcade Fire camp.

The band have been in the studio recording their follow up to their Album of the Year, The Suburbs from 2010, however fans shouldn’t expect it to be out until late 2013. Presumably they don’t want to miss the high bar they’ve set themselves with the last record? Time will tell.
