In a situation reminiscent of late-2010, no information on her medical condition has been released to the media. Previously, in October of that year, Franklin started cancelling shows leading to prayer vigils, surgery and conjecture that she was suffering from cancer (later denied). She eventually cancelled six months worth of appearances.

The cancelled dates are a May 20 appearance with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and a May 26 show at the Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Connecticut. According to a press release, the singer will be receiving treatment during that time. Her next scheduled appearance is June 22 at the DTE Energy Music Theater in Clarkston, MI.
