X-Factor 2013 winner Dami Im takes her debut original single “Alive” straight into ARIA Singles Chart at number one this week, achieving Gold (●) in sales in its first four days of sale.

Alive” becomes the 1009th No.1 single in Australia (1940 to 2013) and the 447th for ARIA (1983 to 2013), whilst she is the 29th reality show contestant to reach the No.1 spot, and the first Australian act to hit the top for 2013, with the last local act being last years X-Factor winner Samantha Jade in late November 2012 with “What You’ve Done to Me”. Dami also becomes the nineteenth Australian female solo artist to hit the top since Olivia Newton-John first did it in 1971, and she becomes the 98th Australian act with the 153rd Australian performed song to make it to the top.

This new No.1 song becomes the twentieth No.1 for Sony Australia, with the last being Samantha Jade (again), and it’s the fourth time that the word ‘Alive’ has appeared at the top of the Australian charts, with the first being the Bee Gees with “Stayin’ Alive” (from 3-April-1978), followed the next year by Patrick Hernandez with “Born to Be Alive” (from 8-Oct-1979), whilst the last ‘alive’ at the top was N-Trance and their cover of “Stayin’ Alive” (15-Oct-79).

So after nine broken weeks at the top, Katy Perry is back down to No.2 again with “Roar”, but she did perform the song on the X-Factor Grand Final (along with her new single), and she did do lots of interviews during her 24 hours in the country promoting this weeks new No.1 album “Prism”. Plus she enters with a new song, more on that soon.

One Direction finished up their national tour on Wednesday, and launched their new single “Story of My Life” on Monday, which this week debuts at No.3 becoming the groups seventh Top 10 hit and fourth Top 3 hit, with this new track taken from their late November due third album “Midnight Memories”. Debuting right behind at No.4 is Guy Sebastian with his new song “Like a Drum”, which instantly becomes his twelfth Top 10 and tenth Top 5 single. He also returns to the Top 100 at No.91 with “Battle Scars”.

“Timber” for Pitbull and Ke$ha is down a place to No.5, but the track picks up a Gold (●) certification, whilst down three places to No.6 is Avicii with “Hey Brother”. Nathaniel is down one place to No.7 with “You”, and after performing on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ this past week, Justice Crew score their third Top 10 hit as “Everybody” jumps up ten places to a new peak of No.8. With the X-Factor Grand Final screening on Monday, Redfoo (one of the judges) rebounds with last weeks 7-25 dropout by jumping back up fourteen places to No.9 with his former No.1 “Let’s Get Ridiculous”, and halving her position from last week, Miley Cyrus is down five places to No.10 with “Wrecking Ball”.

NEW PEAKS & MOVERS: With ‘The Great Gatsby’ DVD and Blu-Ray now out, plus a new remix of “Young & Beautiful”, Lana Del Rey jumps back up thirteen places to No.16, whilst Taylor’s performance of Avicii’s “Wake Me Up” on the XF GF moves the original back up one place to No.19. Little Mix climb five places to No.28 with “Move”, and Imagine Dragons climb up seven spots to No.46 with “Demons”, whilst One Directions XF performance and climatic tour help “Best Song Ever” to jump back up nineteen places to No.47.

DOWN DOWN: The five songs falling out of the Top 10 this week are “Bonfire Heart” for James Blunt (TW-12, HP-3, WI10-3), “Marry Me” by Jason DeRulo (TW-14, HP-8, WI10-2), Taylor Henderson’s version of “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” (TW-15, HP-2, WI10-1), “The Fox” by Ylvis (TW-17, HP-9, WI10-1) and after leaping into last weeks ten, “On Top of the World” by Imagine Dragons is down ten places to No.20 after a single week within the Top 10. Drake falls nine places to No.21 with “Hold On…”, Jessica Mauboy tumbles twelve spots to No.23 with “Pop a Bottle”, Lorde’s “Love Club” EP is down eleven to No.25, whilst “Royals” claimed the No.1 spot in the UK and USA this week. “Rap God” by Eminem is down seventeen places to No.32 and “The Wire” by Haim is down ten places to No.33. Havana Brown is down sixteen places to No.38 with “Warrior” and OneRepublic lose more stars and drop thirteen places to No.39 with “Counting Stars”. “Bring it Back” for Will Sparks & Joel Fletcher is down fourteen to No.49 and Lorde’s “Tennis Court” is down nineteen spots to No.50. Tina Arena scores the biggest drop of the week, as “You Set Fire to My Life” is down forty-nine places to No.87, and whilst there are a lot of drops this week for songs, once the X-Factor acts all leave over the next couple of weeks, the chart should calm down a little bit.

X-FACTOR: As I started with, Dami Im won the X-Factor for 2013, and her first original entry “Alive” takes the No.1 spot in the country, but she is also charting with her version of the Dreamgirls song “And I’m Telling You I’m Not Going” which debuts at No.29, and becomes the first version of the song to make the Australian charts. She re-enters at No.42 with her version of “Purple Rain” (HP-29), whilst her original audition song “Hero”, (Mariah Carey) is new at No.62. She is also charting with “Wrecking Ball” (HP-61, TW-77) and “Roar” (HP-44, TW-94). Taylor Henderson came in second, and is charting with his ‘Girls’ at No.15 (achieves Gold ● status), whilst his version of Damien Rice’s “(TW new at #82) song “The Blowers Daughter” debuts at No.43, whilst his original audition song, Fun’s “Some Nights” is in a couple places lower at No.45. He is also charting with “I Will Wait” (HP-64, TW-65), “Wake Me Up” (HP-49, TW-70), “The Horses” (HP-27, TW-76), “I Won’t Let You Go” (HP-84, TW-85), “One Crowded Hour” (HP-38, TW-88) and “Choir Girl” (HP-51, TW-99), meaning he has nine songs within the Top 100 as opposed to Dami with six. Third placed Jai Waetford also scores a debut at No.37 with his version of “Don’t Let Me Go”, whilst his rendition of Paramore’s “The Only Exception” helps the original back into the charts at No.81.

Katy Perry’s debuts at No.11 with the official second single from her new album ‘Prism’ entitled “Unconditionally”, which becomes her seventeenth chart entry and her fourteenth Top 20 hit, whilst she is also within the Top 100 with her tenth entry “Fireworks”, which is sitting at No.90 this week.

Eminem has re-teamed with Rihanna on his fourth song lifted from his November 5th due “Marshall Mathers 2 LP”, the song is entitled “The Monster” and it debuts at No.13. This instantly becomes the albums fourth Top 20 single in just over a month, as he is currently charting with the three other tracks, “Rap God” (HP-15, TW-32), “Berzerk” (HP-5, TW-41) and “Survival” (HP-18, TW-51). Eminem and Rihanna spent six weeks at No.1 from July 19th, 2010 with the song “Love the Way You Lie”.

Continuing this week releases from a forthcoming album, Lady GaGa debuts at No.31 with her latest ArtPop release “Venus”, whilst last weeks entry of “Do What U Want” is down three places to No.24, and her first release from the new album “Applause” (HP-11) is down at No.69. Next week she is releasing the song “Dope” from the new album, which is due on November 8th.

Fall Out Boy are currently touring here, and they performed their new song “Alone Together” on the X-Factor Grand Final on Monday, which helps that song to debut at No.40 this week, becoming the groups eleventh chart entry in Australia. And someone who will be touring here from November 29th is Taylor Swift, who this week debuts at No.44 with “Sweeter Than Fiction”, which is from the Paul Potts film ‘One Chance’.

Lower 50: INXS return their 1988 No.14 single “Never Tear us Apart” back into the charts at No.56, as Channel 7 has started playing the promo ads for the telemovie about the group, which has this song running through it. The other re-entry of the week is at No.95, Lou Reed with “Walk on the Wild Side” (HP-100, April 1973). Lou passed away last weekend at the age of 71, and his best known song was his first and lowest charting single, spending just one week in the Kent Report charts in April 1973. His next entry was until October 1984 with “I Love You Suzanne” (HP-71), then in July 1986 “No Money Down” (HP-75). His only Top 50 hit was in April 1989 with “Dirty Blvd.” (HP-45) and then in the past ten years he has charted with the remixed “Satellite of Love 2004”/”Walk on the Wild Side” (HP-83, Aug 2004) and as guest on The Killers track “Tranquilize” (HP-84, Nov 2007).

Reece Mastin returns to the ARIA Singles Chart at No.59 with his seventh chart entry “Girls (All Around the World)”, with his last entry being “Timeless” (HP-85) back in March of this year. And Justin Bieber’s weekly release sees his fourth entry in four weeks as “Recovery” is new at No.63 this week. The final new entry of the week is “The Spark” for Afrojack featuring Spree Wilson, entering at No.98 and becoming the fourth entry for Afrojack on the ARIA Singles chart.
