Covergirl announced on Wednesday the signing of DJ duo and sisters Nervo in a bold move intended to fulfil their new “Beauty with an edge” mantra, one that has already attracted Pink and Janelle Monáe to the cosmetics giant.

Australian-born sisters Liv and Mim Nervo have long been making their mark in the world of electronic dance music and there’s no doubt their creative styling extends well beyond the turntable. But there was something more that stood out, says Esi Eggleston Bracey, VP and General Manager of Covergirl Cosmetics, which makes them perfect Covergirls.

The Nervo sisters are paving the way for women in a male-dominated industry; their determination is inspiring to all young women working to break barriers and create their own path. With their immense talent and never-give-up mentality, they are the perfect spokesmodels to encourage fans worldwide to dance to their own beat.

Dubbed the hottest duo in EDM (electronic dance music) today and credited with bridging the gap between the underground and mainstream, Nervo has built up a big profile around the world, having opened for Britney Spears and Nicki Minaj on the Femme Fatale tour, along with having DJ dates at big festivals such as Electric Daisy, Tomorrowland, Electric Zoo, Ultra, Lollapalooza and Winter Music Conference.

As songwriters, Nervo co-wrote David Guetta’s Grammy-award-winning hit “When Love Takes Over” featuring Kelly Rowland and penned songs for artists such as Ke$ha, Kylie Minogue, Miley Cyrus and The Pussycat Dolls.

One half of this truly dynamic duo, Mim Nervo sees beauty as a form of expression, which, she says, makes Covergirl the right choice for them.

We like to push our creativity to the limit not only when we spin, but also in the way we style ourselves for shows – from head to toe. Beyond just clothes and makeup, this also includes our nails, since as DJs, our hands are literally always in the spotlight. That’s why Covergirl is the right fit for us; we believe beauty is a form of expression, just like music, and when done right, it makes us feel bold, beautiful and free.

On Wednesday night, the girls showed off those nails, along with extraordinary nail art designs – thanks to Covergirl, of course – when they were spinning in style at the launch of the debut Rolling Stone “Top 25 DJ” list in New York, which hits the shelves today, in acknowledgement of electronic dance music’s exponential growth over the past few years.

Sponsored by Covergirl, this celebration turned charity event donated all proceeds to the American Red Cross, as New Yorkers, amongst others along the east coast, continue to deal with the wreckage left in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

The girls are now working on their debut album expected to be released by Astralwerks Records in 2013. They currently hold a DJ residency in the new Mecca for dance music, Las Vegas, at the Wynn Hotel Group and have a monthly DJ mix show “Nervo Nation” on Sirius XM’s BPM Channel 51.
