Australian Charts: Ed Sheeran ÷ Spends 25th Week At No 1

The Ed Sheeran onslaught continues at the top of the ARIA Albums Charts for a 25th week for his third album “÷ (Divide)”, matching the amount of time that a classic Aussie album achieved in 1986 and 1987.

Back in the late 1980’s John Farnham spent 25 broken weeks at No.1 with his comeback album in “Whispering Jack”, and now Ed Sheeran has matched those 25 weeks with his “÷ (Divide)” set after he wound us his Australian tour here in Brisbane this past week, he is now in New Zealand where that album is logging its 32nd stay as their No.1 album. Ed also rackes up his 34th overall week at No.1 and he moves from equal tenth to now outright ninth on the list for ‘Accumulated Weeks at No.1: Albums (1965 to 2018)’ moving ahead of Jimmy Barnes’ 33 weeks and is now four weeks behind the 38 weeks achieved by Rod Stewart’s seven No.1 albums. For this decade Ed is still second behind Adele’s 40 weeks spent at the top too, while he is still within the Top 10 with his two previous albums in “x (Multiply)” on hold at No.4 and “+ (Positive)” up one to No.6.

The soundtrack for “The Greatest Showman” is at No.2 for a third week, while it also logs an eleventh week at No.1 in England, with the “Black Panther” soundtrack led by Kendrick Lamar back up one spot to No.7 this week being the other film set within the Top 10.

US rapper XXXTentacion sees his second album “?” debut at No.3 this week, beating the No.29 peak that his August 2017 debut set “17” achieved, while the albums lead single “Sad!” climbs to a new peak of No.9 this week. Recent tourist here Bruno Mars is up one spot to No.5 with his third set “24k Magic”, while Vance Joy is back one to No.8 with his second set “Nation of Two” and Bruno’s recent tour-partner Dua Lipa sees her self-titled album land its first week within the Top 10 here, rising eight spots to a new peak of No.9, while after it left the Top 10 last week the “Stoney” set for Post Malone is back up three to No.10 for a fourteenth week within the Top 10.

UP:
* The recent Luke Bryan tour with Dustin Lynch sees Luke rise for his most recent set “What Makes You Country” (HP-6, 38 to 11) and returning are “Crash My Party” (HP-19) at No.39 and “Kill the Lights” (HP-4) at No.48, while his third album makes its first chart entry and Dustin Lynch returns at No.34 with his third album “Current Mood”, a new peak for the album that previously made it to No.73.
* Another country act touring is Luke Combs with Darius Rucker (Hootie & the Blowfish), whose set “This One’s For You” blasts up forty-six places to land at new peak of No.16, while Darius’ album “When Was the Last Time” (HP-29) returns at No.83.
* The soundtrack for “Fifty Shades Freed” is back up four spots to No.12, while further soundtrack rises occur for “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2” (DVD/Blu-Ray out recently) up eleven to No.33, and the “Frozen” soundtrack returns again at No.89.
* The new singles chart entry for Taylor Swift of “Delicate” (TW-56) helps her “Reputation” to move back up, plus the new Pink release from “Beautiful Trauma” see both sets rise five to No.13 and No.14 respectively, while Taylor’s older set “1989” is back up six to No.46.
* The May tour for Imagine Dragons is getting closer and their “Evolve” set is back up three to No.18.
* Camila Cabello sees her self-titled set “Camila” back up three spots to No.22 after she performed ‘Havana’ on the screened here Graham Norton Show last week (the ‘Mission: Impossible 6′ edition).
* Migos are back up five spots to No.25 with their “Culture II” set.
* Bruno Mars also rises with his two older albums this week too in “Doo-Wops & Hooligans” (34 to 29) and “Unorthodox Jukebox” (39 to 37).
* The new Chris Brown Top 20 entry “Freaky Friday” helps his album “Heartbreak on a Full Moon” to rise back up ten places to No.43.
* The Guns N’ Roses “Greatest Hits” set is back up eight to No.59, with the collections rising for The Killers (68 to 61), Red Hot Chili Peppers (80 to 67), Queen (Platinum Collection 79 to 73) and Five Finger Death Punch (returns at No.90).
* Niall Horan continues to yo-yo his “Flicker” set, back up nine to No.63, and Harry Styles’ self-titled set is back up fourteen spots to No.75.
* Further returns occur for Halsey and “hopeless kingdom fountain” (#77), Kygo and “Kids in Love” (79 thanks to a new entry from the album) and two Hillsong sets in “Wonder” (#96) and “Let There Be Light” (#100).

DOWN:
* The biggest dropout of the week is last weeks No.3 peaking Wiggles set “Nursery Rhymes 2” (HP-3, WI10-1), which now becomes the highest position that an album has left the charts from, while two of last weeks other Top 10 entries also slide in “Only Human” (HP-5, WI10-1) for Calum Scott down ten to No.15 and the current US and Canadian No.1 album/mixtape “Bobby Tarantino 2” for Logic (HP-10, WI10-1), down seven to No.17.
* The self-titled Ian Moss debut from last week is down twelve to No.23.
* Gang of Youths are down seven to No.31 with “Go Further in Lightness”.
* Further drops from last weeks debuts are “Chiaroscuro” for Ocean Alley (15 to 32), “Firepower” by Judas Priest (12 to 35), “Not All the Beautiful Things” by What So Not (14 to 50) and “Both Sides of the Sky” by Jimi Hendrix (20 to 54).
* Justin Timberlake slides down nine spots to No.44 with his latest set “Man of the Woods”.
* The Wiggles also see their collection “The Best of” slide down twelve to No.49, with other Greatest Hits sets falling for Green Day (75 to 87), ABBA (76 to 91), Creedence Clearwater Revival (84 to 94) and Elton John with “Diamonds” (77 to 99).
* “Snow” falls again for Angus & Julia Stone, down eight to No.56.
* Camp Code slump twenty-eight places to No.60 with “How to Socialise & Make Friends”.
* The Wombats are down nine to No.69 with “Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life”.
* Sarah Blasko drops twenty-two places to No.72 with her “Depth of Field” album.
* The mixtape for 6ix9ine and “Day69” drops a further fifteen places this week to land at No.78.
* A post tour drop occurs again for Fall Out Boy with “M A N I A”, down thirty-two spots to No.97.
* Further albums leaving the chart from last week Top 50 are by Lil’ Yachty (#36), Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats (#47) and Three Days Grace (#49).

FURTHER NEW ENTRIES:
* #3 (LP#2) – ? by XXXTentacion

* #20 (LP#14) – Thin Line by Billy Ray Cyrus was originally released in September of 2016 and charts now thanks to it’s expanded tour edition, with the US country singer performing shows here during the past week (and early next week too). This becomes his fourth albums chart entry and his first since 2012’s “Change My Mind” made it to No.75, while this is now his third Top 20 album here.

* #38 (LP#7) self-titled (2018) by Stone Temple Pilots is the second successive self-titled album for the US rock act, as the sixth album from 2010 (HP-21) was also self-titled, and this new entry becomes the bands seventh album to land within the Top 40, and so far their lowest charted album too.

* #64 (LP#3) – Tailgates & Tanlines by Luke Bryan was his third studio album from 2011 and makes its first chart entry here after his recent national tour, while this is his fourth album within the Top 100 this week too (see the ‘UP’ section above for his other chart rises/entries), and this becomes his fourth albums chart entry here overall.

* #82 (S/Tk) – Love, Simon Soundtrack currently has the No.11 single in the country for Khalid and Normani and “Love Lies”, while the set also features tracks by Bleachers, Troye Sivan, Amy Shark, The 1975 and older tracks by Whitney Houston, Jackson 5 and Brenton Wood, the film opening around the country this coming Thursday the 31st of March.

* #84 (LP#2) – Happy Endings by Old Dominion is the US country bands second album and first entry here, helped by them playing the CMC Rocks QLD at Willowbank Raceway on the 16th of March, the set originally released overseas in August of 2017.

* #85 (LP#2) – One Stone by Trixie Mattel is the US drag queen’s second album and first chart entry here, with her recently winning the ‘RuPaul Drag Race: All Star’ third series, plus her TV series ‘The Trixie and Katya Show’ is screening on SBS2 and her national tour is set for for late May of this year.

* #86 (LP#8) – I’ll Be Your Girl by The Decemberists is the fourth chart entry here for the indie-folk act from Portland, Oregon and follows on from 2015’s “What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World” (HP-27, Feb 2015) and is now their lowest charted album here.
