Holding for a third week atop the ARIA Singles Chart are The Chainsmokers with Halsey and their collaboration “Closer”, which also jumped from 6 to 1 in the US this past week too.

The entire top five singles are stable this week, with DJ Snake along with Justin Bieber at their peak of No.2 for a second week with “Let Me Love You”, whilst Justin is at No.3 also on the Major Lazer and M0 track “Cold Water”, which is newly certified ▲Platinum in sales. Holding at its peak of No.4 for also a second week are twenty one pilots and their ‘Suicide Squad’ song “Heathens”, and lastly Illy and Vera Blue stay at No.5 again with “Papercuts”, stopping their weekly decline of one spot at a time, the track also cracking the ▲Platinum sales mark too.

The remake by Australian singer Betty Who of the Donna Lewis track “I Love You Always Forever” is up three places this week to a new peak of No.6, pushing last week’s number six peak track “Perfect Strangers” for Jonas Blue back down one to No.7. Jumping up four to a new chart height of No.8 is another song from the ‘Suicide Squad’ soundtrack “Sucker for Pain” by the ensemble of Lil’ Wayne (7th T10), Wiz Khalifa (5th T10), Imagine Dragons (3rd T10), X-Ambassadors (1st T10), Ty Dolla $ign (2nd T10) and Logic (1st T10), becoming the fourth song from the soundtrack to make it into the Top 10, as previous tracks from the set charting at the moment have had previous chart runs in “You Don’t Own Me” by Grace (HP-1, TW-96) and “Without Me” by Eminem (HP-1, TW-86). “Alarm” by Anne-Marie peaked at No.7 three weeks ago, and last week dropped one spot, which it repeats this week, as it’s down one to No.9, whilst Shawn Mendes falls three to No.10 with “Treat You Better” as his new single becomes the highest new entry this week, taking sales away from his older track.

UP: “The Ocean” for Mike Perry is up three places to a new peak of No.11 and with M0 in the country on a promo tour at the moment, her solo entry “Final Song” is up a couple of places to a new peak of No.15 this week. Numbers 19, 20, 21 and 22 are all stable this week, and at No.19 and No.22 we see new certifications for The Chainsmokers with Daya on “Don’t Let Me Down” (#19, now 4x▲Platinum) and “In My Blood” for The Veronicas (#22, ▲Platinum). Martin Garrix last week scored his second Top 50 entry with “In the Name of Love” featuring Bebe Rexha as guest vocalist, and now this week their collaboration is up ten places to a new peak of No.23, and in the process it becomes the highest charting single in Australia for Martin, as “Animals” peaked at No.29 in September of 2013. “Cake by the Ocean” for DNCE is back up three to No.24, and former DNCE collaborator Hailee Steinfeld sees her new track “Starving” bullet up thirty places to land at No.33, becoming her second Top 40 entry and now her highest charting entry, as her previous highest effort was “Rock Bottom” (HP-39, April 2016). Also breaking into the Top 50 this week is current UK Top 5 track “Dancing on My Own” for Calum Scott, which here leaps twenty-five places to land at No.45.

DOWN: The only song leaving the Top 10 this week is the Calvin Harris and Rihanna track “This is What You Came For” (HP-1×2, WI10-16), which is down two to No.12, and beats the twelve weeks that their previous Top 10 collaboration achieved, “We Found Love” in 2011. “We Don’t Talk Anymore” for Charlie Puth is only down one spot to No.16 this week and newly certified ▲Platinum in sales, “Say it” for Flume and Tove Lo is down three to No.26 and falling eight to No.32 is the Katy Perry track “Rise”, which is newly Gold (●) in sales. “Cool Girl” by Tove Lo drops back five to No.37, “Panda” by Desiigner is down nine to No.40, the other Flume charting track “Never Be Like You” with Kai is down four to No.43 and now certified 4x▲Platinum, with “Just Like Fire” by Pink dropping seven to No.47 with the biggest drop into the lower fifty being “Hotter Than Hell” by Dua Lipa down ten to No.58.

The fourth Top 40 entry for Shawn Mendes entitled “Mercy” is the highest new entry this week at No.28, the second track lifted from his September 23rd due second album entitled “Illuminate”, with the album’s first single “Treat You Better” (HP-4) sitting at No.10 this week. The second and final Top 50 debut this week is the first track lifted from the soundtrack to the film ‘Bridget Jones’s Baby’. Performed by Ellie Goulding the song “Still Falling for You” debuts at No.36 and becomes her fifteenth Top 100 entry and twelfth to reach the Top 50.

Lower 50: OneRepublic are up nine to a new peak of No.63 with “Kids”, and back up eight to No.83 are Disturbed and their cover of “The Sound of Silence”. Olly Murs re-enters at No.87 with “You Don’t Know Love”, which benefits from new remixes of the song being released, whilst “Middle” for DJ Snake and Bipolar Sunshine sneaks back in at #100. The final new peak in the lower fifty is the Marc E. Bassy EP “Groovy People” which is up six this week to No.92, and spending its 93rd week within the Top 100 at No.95 is “Uptown Funk” for Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars, again the oldest charting song at the moment.

“Sex” for Cheat Codes is down three to No.53 and is now ▲Platinum in sales, whilst the duo’s new single enters one place lower at No.54, “Let Me Hold You (Turn Me on)” featuring guest vocals from Dante Klein. The song is a semi-cover (like their last one was) of the Kevin Lyttle track “Turn Me On” (HP-3, peaked late March 2004) and it becomes the band’s second chart entry here.

Metallica debut at No.70 with the first taste from their forthcoming tenth studio album entitled “Hardwired… to Self Destruct” (due Nov 18th) with the albums title track “Hardwired”, which becomes the groups 29th Top 100 entry and first for this decade, as they last charted in May 2009 with “Broken, Beaten and Scarred” (HP-75). Also seeing the first song from a new album entering this week is Passenger who is new at No.71 with “Anywhere”, which is from his seventh album “Young at the Morning, Old as the Sea” (due Sept 23rd), and becomes his fourth chart entry, and should climb next week as he was in the country later in the past week on a promo tour.

American duo Frenship see their debut single “Capsize” featuring singer Emily Warren come in at No.76 this week, followed at No.77 by Kygo and Julia Michaels with “Carry Me”, which they both performed at the closing ceremony of the Rio, Brazil Olympics this past week. Another US act seeing their debut single enter this week are the duo of Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern who call themselves Sofi Tukker (so no relation to the Bette Midler character) and their song “Drinkee” enters at No.98 and is taken from their debut EP “Soft Animals”. Finally at No.99 is Mac Miller and his track “Dang!”, featuring guest vocals by Anderson.Paak and it is taken from his September 16th due fourth album “The Divine Feminine”, the song becoming his second chart entry, as he was a guest vocalist on the Ariana Grande track “The Way” (HP-37, peaked April 2013) previously.
