Backstreet Boys and Paul Anka are two more artists cancelling shows in Israel over security fears.

Paul Anka has put off two shows, although he hopes to reschedule in the future, that were scheduled for July 24 and 26. Anka is very popular in Israel, appearing there twice since 2009. His rep released the following statement:

Due to the current situation in the Middle East, Paul Anka and the local promoters will be postponing his upcoming concerts scheduled for July 24 and 26, 2014. Management is in constant communication with our local promoter friends, trying to find a solution to the rescheduled dates. Once this is worked out in the next few days the local promoter will make the announcement. We ask all current ticket holders to keep their tickets and await that announcement. Mr. Anka assures you that once the local situation is resolved, he will be there with the latest version of his fantastic performance.

Meanwhile, one of the most anticipated shows of the year, the Backstreet Boys, scheduled for July 29, 30 and 31, has also been postponed. Their official statement said:

We are very sorry to inform you that the BSB concerts planned for July 29-30-31 at the Ra’anana Amphitheater have been postponed. This is a major disappointment for the band and fans as this was to be our first visit to Israel and we looked forward to meeting our fans. We’re already working with the producers on new dates during spring 2015 and will notify everyone about this as soon as possible. Sending lots of love to everyone.”

Other appearances either postponed or cancelled include Neil Young and Crazy Horse, the Brian Jonestown Massacre, Chick Corea and Stanley Clarke and America. Concerts are still scheduled by Megadeth, Lady Gaga, Lana Del Rey and Cee Lo Green.
