The American superstar has been taping herself for around the last ten years. As well as intimate private events, the videos take in public appearances and interviews the singer has conducted.

It’s reported there are 50,000 hours of footage captured on tape, meaning Beyoncé needed someone to get them organised.

She apparently calls the collection her “crazy archive” and is intensely proud of it.

“I can always say, ‘I want that interview I did’, and we can find it,” she is quoted as saying.

The excerpts take in all aspects of the 31-year-old’s career and there is footage of her with her Destiny’s Child bandmates Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland.

All the video is now stored digitally and in a temperature-controlled room in Los Angeles to ensure it is never damaged. It also means Beyoncé can look up anything she needs quickly.

According to British newspaper The Sun, an American interviewer has been allowed to see the archive and likened it to the version US TV network NBC has in place. It was also suggested Beyoncé has taped herself for as much as 16 hours in a single day as she is so keen to ensure she doesn’t forget anything.

The star has made a revealing documentary called Life Is But A Dream, which is hitting screens in the US later this month.

Excerpts from the programme have been released, including one in which Beyoncé talks about having a miscarriage before the birth of her and her husband Jay-Z’s daughter Blue Ivy in January 2012.

‘I picked out names. I envisioned what my child would look like… I was feeling very maternal,” she said. “Literally the week before I went to the doctor, everything was fine, but there was no heartbeat.”

She also slams claims she faked her pregnancy with Blue Ivy, after it was suggested she was wearing a prosthetic baby bump and she had used a surrogate.
