Pete McNeal, the drummer for alt-rock band Cake from 2001 to 2004, has been sentenced to 15 years to life for the molestation of a 3-year-old girl.

McNeal, 48, was sentenced by Los Angeles Superior Court judge Fred Wapner on Thursday, who also ordered him to registers as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

The case revolves around an incident at a 2009 Thanksgiving party in Laural Canyon where McNeal was a guest. The first trial in the case ended in a hung jury but the retrial found McNeal guilty.

According to Ultimate Classic Rock, McNeal was arrested two weeks after the original incident for attempting to molest a 6-year-old, receiving probation in the case.

McNeal replaced Cake drummer Todd Roper (1994 to 2001) shortly after the completion of recording on their album Comfort Edge. During his time with the band he appeared in the video for Love You Madly and on the tour supporting Comfort Edge. He was replaced by current drummer Paulo Baldi prior to the recording of the album Pressure Edge.
