The Bridge Hotel in Castlemaine Changes Hands, Plans To Start Hosting Gigs

The Bridge Hotel in the Victorian town of Castlemaine has new owners operating the business and new owners of the building, with the intention of turning it into a live music venue.

The building itself has been acquired by Liam Matthews, Joel Morrison and Singa Unyalati who run The Old Bar in the inner Melbourne suburb of Fitzroy. At the same time, the business was acquired by Gold Soundz Pty Ltd, which is Brendan Noonan and Kat Hamilton who have previously managed the Northcote Social Club and The Old Bar respectively.

“This whole thing came about because Brendan and Kat approached us to see if we would be keen on such a venture,” new building owner Liam Matthews told Noise 11. “They found the pub, they looked at it and liked it so we started talks with the building owner and the business owner. We ended up buying the building from the owner and they bought the business from the current tenant. It was two separate deals.

“Obviously I was happy when they mentioned Castlemaine as I spend time up there with my partner’s family. In fact I really like it up there.”

I know I have pretty much included all the details you could ever need, but this press release made me LOL, so I thought I would share it with you:

In August 2007 two unemployable men from the Mornington Peninsula and a strange man from Indonesia bought The Old Bar in Fitzroy.

On the 21st of December 2011 these same idiots would like to announce that they have successfully acquired the freehold for the Bridge Hotel at 21 Walker St. Castlemaine.

To coincide with this announcement we would also like to congratulate Brendan Noonan and Kat Hamilton who have purchased the business and take over The Bridge on the 1st of March 2012.

Thanks.

The pub will be located at 21 Walker Street, Castlemaine. That is 129km from the Melbourne CBD.

Stay tuned to Noise 11 to find out what gigs the venue will kick off with.
