Clem Burke, Elliott Easton Form Supergroup The Empty Hearts

Clem Burke of Blondie and Elliott Easton of The Cars have teamed with Wally Palmar of The Romantics and Andy Babiuk of The Chesterfield Kings to form the supergroup The Empty Hearts.

The name The Empty Hearts comes courtesy of Little Steven from The E Street Band who keeps a list of unused band names. Burke borrowed it for this band.

All members of The Empty Hearts have spent decades in bands. ”Those common influences are what brought us together,” Burke says.  “We’re survivors and lifers of rock ‘n’ roll. We take from everything that’s come before musically. A lot of people have never heard or seen a band like this. There’s a freshness to it, at the same time as it’s a recollection of the past.”

The band has recorded their debut album, to be released in August through 429 Records. Burke describes the sound of The Empty Hearts as “a bracing sound shaped by influences which span decades and include ’50’s American roots rock ‘n’ roll, 60’s British invasion and 70’s garage-punk.”
