Cliff Richard Questioned In UK Child Sex Investigation

Cliff Richard is the latest UK celebrity to be questioned over child sex abuse allegations.

Police in South Yorkshire have searched the apartment of Cliff Richard in relation to an alleged sex offense from the 1980’s.

A police spokesperson has told the BBC that the investigation revolves around an allegation about a 16-year-old boy dating back three decades. Eight plain clothes officers arrived at the residence in five unmarked cars. No further details have been released.

The investigation is not related to Operation Yewtree which has been responsible for the arrests of a number of men including TV host Jimmy Seville and Rolf Harris.

Richard has issued a statement that indicates that he is aware of and vehemently denies the allegation:

For many months I have been aware of allegations against me of historic impropriety which have been circulating online.

The allegations are completely false. Up until now I have chosen not to dignify the false allegations with a response, as it would just give them more oxygen.

However, the police attended my apartment in Berkshire today without notice, except it would appear to the press.

I am not presently in the UK but it goes without saying that I will cooperate fully should the police wish to speak to me. Beyond stating that today’s allegation is completely false it would not be appropriate to say anything further until the police investigation has concluded.

I could go to a James Taylor show just for the stories. The man is a part of music history and is still around to tell the tales of how it all began. Like, for instance, being the first artist signed to Apple Records. James “auditioned” for Apple with his song ‘Something In The Way She Moves’. "Paul went away and started the label and George went away and wrote the song”, he said.
