Colin Hay To Showcase At SXSW

Colin Hay, former Men At Work singer, will venture into SXSW in Austin, Texas in March.

Men At Work captured the world with the ‘Business As Usual’ album and the lead song ‘Down Under’. The album sold over 10 million in the United States and was the first (and so far only) Australian recording to simultaneously land the no. 1 album spot in both the USA and UK.

Men At Work won a Grammy Award for Best New Artist the following year.

Colin has recorded 11 solo albums. The most recent ‘Gathering Mercury’ was released in 2011. The album is about the passing of his father.

Hay, now based in Topagna, California, has appeared in the TV shows Scrubs and The Larry Sanders Show. Colin Hay also played as part of the Ringo Starr All-Starr Band in 2003 and 2008.

55 Australian acts will showcase at the SXSW music conference.
SXSW Music will take place in Austin, Texas from March 11-16, 2014.

Australian’s heading to SXSW have a chance to catch-up at free info nights in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

SXSW Aussie rep Phil Tripp advisers, “There are three great speakers so far in Sydney to share their insights and secrets as well as tips and techniques plus contacts. They are top music manager Gregg Donovan (Grinspoon, Josh Pyke, Airbourne); Former Apple iTunes exec Jackie Kralj who now operates Digital Rascal plus James Hartcher who operates design and development agency Chook Digital. One more from film and TV to be announced for Sydney, then the lineup for Melbourne”.
