This year, Creative Victoria’s Music Passport program brings the change makers and deal brokers of Brazil to Melbourne to meet with local industry and discover local talent in our vibrant music capital.

Forging networks and creating pathways across the Pacific into this exciting territory, the Music Passports Brazilian delegation are part of an ongoing program of connections between the Victorian music sector and one of the biggest music markets in the world, supported by Creative Victoria and presented as part of CHANGES.

Already at number 9 in the world, BRAZIL is the largest music market in Latin America – the fastest growing music region in the world (IFPI Global Music Report 2019), so there’s good reason to focus on it. Local industry delegates have been going there for several years now as part of Sounds Australia’s delegation to Latin America, and this year CHANGES welcomes BRAZIL to Melbourne.

Appearing on the CHANGES panel event MUSIC PASSPORT: LIVE BRAZIL, these six Brazillian delegates will offer wisdom on listening habits and advice for breaking into the South American market. Bringing their experience in the local festival scene are founder and booker of Goiania’s legendary Latin American music festival Bananada Festival Fabrício Nobre; Daianne Dias, producer at A Construtora and Head of Executive Production at Bananada Festival; and Ana Garcia, the director of No Ar Coquetel Molotov. Joining them are producer and manager Monique Dardenne, who also heads up the South American arm of the global Women’s Music Event; Carlos Mills, who founded independent label Mills Records and is the President of the Brazilian Independent Music Trade Association; and founder of ForMusic, the pioneering music and promotion company, Nando Machado.

These delegates are attending CHANGES as a part of the Victorian State Government Music Passport program, a key election commitment of the State Government and a part of the $22.2 Music Works package of music industry development. Music Passport provides opportunity for Victorian artists and industry to make inroads internationally, benefitting the local live music industry in the long-term.

Minister for Creative Industries Martin Foley adds: “The Andrews Labor Government is investing in our music industry at all levels. We’re proud to support important industry development initiatives like CHANGES, and to help enable our local talent to connect with international markets through our Music Development Office.”

CHANGES Summit and Live Music Showcase Passes are on sale now, and offer an all-access pass to the MUSIC, TECH, TALKS AND IDEAS that will forge our future in music. Explore the complete timetable at changes.melbourne and join us at Abbotsford Convent on July 3 and 4.

CHANGES is presented by a consortium led by The Push, along with City of Yarra, Music Victoria, APRA/AMCOS and the VMDO.
