The New York Post reports that the former founding bassist and vocalist of the legendary group, Harley Flanagan, showed up at the CBGB festival at Webster Hall in New York and stabbed two current Cro-Mags William Berario and Michael “The Gook” Couls.

Flanagan was banned from the show but somehow snuck in and burst through the VIP section, stabbing Couls in the arm and stomach, and cutting Berario above the eye and biting him on the cheek before security subdued him.

He was handcuffed to a chair and dragged out, reportedly giving the crowd the finger as he left. Berario, Couls and Flanagan all ended up in hospital, the first two with non-life-threatening wounds.

The show, which featured CBGBs regulars Agnostic Front, Superchunk, Duff McKagan’s Loaded, Tommy Ramone and more, was cancelled after the incident, meaning hardcore heroes Sick Of It All didn’t get to play.

The festival organisers said in a statement: “We are saddened to learn about the events that occurred last night at Webster Hall. Our primary concern is always the safety and experience of New Yorkers, music fans and the general public. Naturally we will fully cooperate with law enforcement while hoping for the speedy recovery of those injured.”

“Live music can be incredibly uplifting, empowering and positive. We don’t feel the actions of one person should overshadow four amazing days and nights of events that include today’s historic and unprecedented free concerts in Times Square and Central Park.”

Flanagan has been charged with two counts of second degree assault and weapons charges.
