The Independent Music Awards have given a sense of credibility to the Australian Music Industry. Past winners include Goyte, Urthboy, Hilltop Hoods, The Jezabels and Art vs. Science, Midnight Juggernauts, The Drones, Gurrumul, John Butler Trio, Eddy Current Supression Ring, Parkway Drive, Adalita, Chet Faker and Dan Sultan.
The Independent Music Awards recognise acts that are often overlooked at other awards such as the ARIA Awards.
The 8th annual Carlton Dry Independent Music Awards will be held on October 9 in Melbourne.
