A matter of hours after he was sentenced to four years jail for cocaine possession, R&B producer Dallas Austin has reportedly been pardoned by the Ruler of Dubai.

The producer remains in prison, but one of Austin’s lawyers – who wished to remain anonymous – explained that his release was now just a “matter of paperwork”, and that he should be released in a few days. The lawyer explained that great care needs to be taken with the matter, until Austin has left the United Arab Emirates.

The pardon is said to have come from Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai and Vice President of the United Arab Emirates.

Austin was heading to Dubai for Naomi Campbell’s extravagant three-day birthday party. His string of production credits include Madonna, Janet and Michael Jackson and TLC.
