You’ll soon be hearing a new 2019 version of Sherbet’s classic ‘Howzat’. Daryl Braithwaite has confirmed to Noise11 that he and Garth Porter recorded the new version this week in Sydney.

Daryl says ‘Howzat 2019’ was done for Channel 7’s cricket season. The new version will also has had a lyric make-over with the line “you messed about I caught you out” removed to divert attention from the ball-tampering scandal of 2018.

Sherbet’s ‘Howzat’ was released in 1976 and reached no 1 in Australia and New Zealand. The song was an international hit reaching no 4 in the UK and no 61 in the USA.

‘Howzat’ was written by Sherbet members Garth Porter and Tony Mitchell.

The song was the title track of Sherbet’s 1976 album which also reached no 1 in Australia.
