Davy Jones Died From Heart Attack

The medical examination of Davy Jones has confirmed that The Monkees singer died from a heart attack.

The autopsy report from the medical examiners office in Martin County, Florida has found no sign after anything else to blame but toxicity tests will confirm the findings in 6-8 weeks.

Jones was already an established actor when he scored the role of lead singer in the TV show The Monkees with Mike Nesmith, Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork. The show ran for only two seasons but made them all stars.

The original Monkees made one more album after the show went off the air. In 1996, all four members recorded ‘Justus’ featuring all original songs written by each of the members.

A 2001 reunion tour minus Nesmith ended with Tork being fired.

Jones put to rest any further talk of more reunions in a 2008 interview with the Baltimore Sun. He said, “with keeping myself clean and in good shape I can’t be responsible for Peter, Mike and Micky and their behaviour”.

In Glenn A. Baker’s book ‘Monkeemania: The True Story of the Monkees’ he described the group as “like an illegitimate child in a respectable family, the Monkees are destined to be regarded forever as rock’s first great embarrassment”.

That being said, “rock’s first great embarrassment” were the first music act to win two Emmy Awards, had the no. 1 and 3 best selling singles of 1967, Jimi Hendrix was their support act on his first UK tour and The Monkees held the record for the longest no. 1 run for a debut album on the Billboard chart before Men At Work came along.
