Rock legend Don Henley will present movie legend Robert Redford with the Walden Woods Project award.

Robert Redford is the recipient of the Walden Woods Project’s 2014 Global Environmental Leadership Award in recognition of his enduring commitment to a range of environmental initiatives.

WWP founder Don Henley will present the award during a fundraising event on Tuesday, September 16 at the Citi Performing Arts Center/Wang Theatre in Boston, Massachusetts, featuring an intimate concert by the Eagles. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.; Program begins at 8 p.m.; Eagles concert at 9 p.m.

Proceeds from the event will support the mission of the Walden Woods Project, the Massachusetts-based charity founded in 1990. The organization protects Thoreau’s Walden Woods and applies Thoreau’s philosophy through educational programs that address the global environmental challenges of the 21st century.

Don Henley praised Redford’s environmental leadership saying, “Bob Redford was an environmentalist long before the well-being of our natural resources became an international concern. Throughout his extraordinary career as an acclaimed actor, director and producer, he has devoted himself to myriad environmental initiatives too lengthy to enumerate. Redford has stated, “I think the environment should be put in the category of our national security. Defense of our resources is just as important as defense abroad. Otherwise what is there to defend?’ I can’t agree more. Whether he is defending the integrity of the public lands we leave as our legacy to future generations; whether he is lobbying Congress for the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, fighting for the protection of the dwindling herds of America’s iconic wild mustangs or advocating for measures to curb climate change, he puts the full measure of his time and talent, and the force of his convictions, behind all the compelling environmental causes he supports. The Walden Woods Project is honored to present its 2014 Global Environmental Leadership Award to Robert Redford.”

James Taylor Farewells Australia With Final Tour (Melbourne Review)

I could go to a James Taylor show just for the stories. The man is a part of music history and is still around to tell the tales of how it all began. Like, for instance, being the first artist signed to Apple Records. James “auditioned” for Apple with his song ‘Something In The Way She Moves’. "Paul went away and started the label and George went away and wrote the song”, he said.
