Eric Burdon Cake Sets Patti Smith’s Hair On Fire

by Paul Cashmere on May 15, 2018

in News

Patti Smith personally delivered a birthday cake to Eric Burdon at his City winery show in New York on Friday night and accidentally set her hair on fire.

Eric turned 77 on May 11. Patti came on stage halfway through the show with the cake already lit but when she bowed to the great English singer her hair rubbed across the candles and caught on fire.

Eric quickly put it out and the show went on.

Jim Bessman from centerline.news was there and watched the drama unfold. “When an overly excited Patti Smith came out for the encore to present him with a birthday cake, her long hair caught fire from the candles. Not skipping a beat, Burdon doused it with his bare hands such that it was barely perceptible,” he wrote in his review.

James Taylor Farewells Australia With Final Tour (Melbourne Review)

I could go to a James Taylor show just for the stories. The man is a part of music history and is still around to tell the tales of how it all began. Like, for instance, being the first artist signed to Apple Records. James “auditioned” for Apple with his song ‘Something In The Way She Moves’. "Paul went away and started the label and George went away and wrote the song”, he said.
