Europe’s ‘The Final Countdown’ album reached no 3 on the Australian chart in 1986. The title track reached no 2. 32 years on, the band will tour Australia fir the very first time.

The band is fronted by Joey Tempest who was around all those years ago for the big hit. Original guitarist John Norum is still with Europe. He left after ‘The Final Countdown’ but returned in 2004. Founding member and bass player Joey Tempest is also still around, He and Tempest are the only two members to have played on every Europe album.

“We are so excited to be touring Australia for the first time! It’s something we always wanted to do, but we just couldn’t make the schedules work before,” says Joey Tempest. “But now … its going to happen and we can finally hook up with our friends down under!”

Europe’s last gig was in the Netherlands on September 9.

James Taylor Farewells Australia With Final Tour (Melbourne Review)

I could go to a James Taylor show just for the stories. The man is a part of music history and is still around to tell the tales of how it all began. Like, for instance, being the first artist signed to Apple Records. James “auditioned” for Apple with his song ‘Something In The Way She Moves’. "Paul went away and started the label and George went away and wrote the song”, he said.
