Judas Priest guitarist KK Downing has plans to open a hotel in the grounds of his home.

Downing – a founding member of the band – told the Shropshire Star that he is currently talking to investors and hopes to get started on the building this year.

“I’m 60 years old now so I really want to get things completed. That’s always been the endgame,” he told the paper.

“When it comes to the vision I know exactly what I want to do but once we develop the hotel and leisure side of things I’ll need to bring in professionals to run the operation because it’s impossible to do it on your own.”

He also said that he is planning on being “a flagship sports and leisure facility to seriously put Bridgenorth and the surrounding areas on the map, not just nationally but internationally.”

The hotel will have 63 rooms, an indoor swimming pool, a spa and a “top class” restaurant.

Downing helped found Judas Priest in 1969. Their riffy metal was at the time unheard of and they quickly became one of the most influential bands in the world. Their hits include Breakin’ The Law and Living After Midnight, both off their sixth album British Steel.

The band’s most recent album was the 2008 concept album Nostradamus.

Downing left Judas Priest mid-tour on April 20, 2011.
