George Michael fans who missed out on his live concerts in 2012 will get a second chance to hear the shows with the release of the live ‘Symphonica’ album.
Now George Michael has announced Symphonica, his sixth solo album, will be released on March 17 (U.K.)/18 (U.S.).
Symphonica was recorded during the tour of the same name of 2011 and ’12 and was produced by the legendary Phil Ramone alongside George himself. Also on March 17, Symphonica’s lead single, Let Her Down Easy, will be released on iTunes/digital platforms accompanied by a new video directed by Vaughan Arnell.
Produced by Phil Ramone and George Michael, Symphonica will be released on a hardback deluxe, 17-track CD edition; a standard 13-track CD; a standard 13-track digital version and on pure audio Blu-Ray through Virgin EMI/Universal Music Group
To coincide with the announcement of Symphonica, from Monday January 20, George is donating a track from the album, Praying For Time, for free download. Full details can be found on www.georgemichael.com.
The Symphonica album was recorded during George’s wildly successful 2011-12 tour of the same name, a labor of love which fulfilled George’s long-standing ambition of showcasing his extraordinary vocals alongside an orchestra in some of Europe’s finest, most prestigious venues.
Like the tour, the Symphonica album comprises lovingly arranged and sung versions of carefully selected highlights from George’s back catalogue plus interpretations of songs by some of George’s favourite artists.
