Global Poverty Project has launched Global Citizen Tickets, a platform that rewards social activism with concert tickets.

International artists including Bruce Springsteen, Eddie Vedder and Nine Inch Nails along with Australian artists like John Butler Trio, Bernard Fanning and Gotye have got behind the platform to encourage music fans to participate in social change for the community.

The idea came from Pearl Jam manager Kelly Curtis who launched the concept in the USA in 2012 with the Global Citizen Festival.

Danny Rogers, founder of the St Jerome’s Laneway Festival, has launched the Australian arm of the project. “Music not only has the ability to stir every last emotion inside you; but also has the power to inspire, educate, and stop and make you think about certain issues,” he said. “We’re really glad that so many amazing Aussie bands are donating tickets to their shows and raising awareness with their fans about social change.”

To start qualifying for tickets, register at www.globalcitizen.org/tickets-au . The by posting social comments to Facebook or Twitter, signing petitions to world leaders or emailing the Australian Government to encourage support of the Global Partnership for Education, you can earn points that will qualify you for the draw for tickets to shows by participating artists.

The full list of available tickets can be viewed at www.globalcitizen.org/tickets-au
