The Gympie Music Muster has developed a new youth program to be introduced at the event this year.

Department Of Youth Day at the Gympie Music Muster will feature contemporary pop and folk artists at the Crowbar on August 30.

The line-up for the day will include Josh Pyke, Bob Evans (Kevin Mitchell), Uncle Jed, Thelma Plum and The Soorelys.

Muster General Manager says Department of Youth will expand on the Gympie Music Muster’s core country line-up. “While the Muster has a long history of presenting the cream of country artists it has always catered for those who also enjoy related genres such as folk, country rock as well as just great singers, songwriters and story tellers,” he said in a statement. “The Department of Youth special event not only provides a special  opportunity for the youth who will be attending the festival, but also for music lovers who wish to experience some of the fantastic new artists making their mark on the Australian musical landscape.”

Australian country royalty Kasey Chambers, Adam Harvey and The McClymonts will also perform at the Gympie Music Muster this year.

The 2014 line-up also includes The Sunny Cowgirls, Russell Morris, McAlister Kemp and The Viper Creek Band.

The 2014 Gympie Muster will be held from August 28 to 31 at Amamoor Creek State Forest Park, about 90 minutes north of Brisbane.
