The Monkees 50th anniversary show, featuring Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork, will tour New Zealand and Australia in November and December.

“We’re coming out to Australia and New Zealand and it’s the first time I’ve been back since the 80’s and I can’t wait!” Micky Dolenz of The Monkees has announced.

The Monkees have just released their first album in 20 years ‘Good Times’ features Micky, Peter and Mike Nesmith and a presence from Davey Jones who passed away in 2012.

Nesmith does not tour with the band but did join the band for one song one show in New York via Skype in recent weeks.

‘Good Times’ has been the most successful Monkees album since 1968, debuting in the Top 20 in Australia. The album features new songs by River Cuomo of Weezer, Ben Gibbard of Death Cab For Cutie, Andy Partridge of XTC and one song written together for The Monkees by Noel Gallagher of Oasis and Paul Weller of The Jam.

Producer Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne) also completed an unused Monkees song from the 60s written by Neil Diamond and featuring the vocals of Davy Jones for the album.

The Monkees are currently on tour in the USA after already playing the UK.

Kraftwerk Beam Down Into Melbourne Captain’s Log Stardate 0812230830pm #REVIEW

I wasn’t quite prepared for the “strap in and enjoy the ride’ experience of Kraftwerk. I hadn’t seen them live since the Big Day Out of 2003. It was still light when they came in, in the tent (not the outdoor stage) and they were wearing suits. Someone at the time commented that it was like watching four businessmen in the Qantas Club sending emails to each other.
