James Reyne Releases Solo Anthology And Hits The Road

by Paul Cashmere on August 13, 2014

in Live,New Music,News

James Reyne has released his 2CD compilation ‘The Anthology’ and has set dates for Victoria and New South Wales over September and October to play the hits live.

The 35 track showcases the James Reyne solo years from his first hit after Australian Crawl, ‘Fall Of Rome’. It includes his collaboration with James Blundell ‘Way Out West’ and the Company of Strangers track ‘Motor City (I Get Lost)’.

‘I’ve been working as a singer, musician and songwriter for a while now, and feel that it may only be that I’ve started to grasp how it all works relatively recently. I know I’m a better craftsman now than I was, so welcomed the idea of this Anthology/retrospective of my solo stuff. The first CD includes all the solo “hits” that I’ve had, but most importantly to me, provides a threshold to the later and more recent songs; tunes that many would never have heard. They are culled from the albums “The Whiff Of Bedlam”, “Design For Living”, Speedboats For Breakfast”, “Every Man A King”, and “Thirteen” and I hope, provide an insight into what I’ve REALLY been up to.’

James Taylor Farewells Australia With Final Tour (Melbourne Review)

I could go to a James Taylor show just for the stories. The man is a part of music history and is still around to tell the tales of how it all began. Like, for instance, being the first artist signed to Apple Records. James “auditioned” for Apple with his song ‘Something In The Way She Moves’. "Paul went away and started the label and George went away and wrote the song”, he said.
