John Butler Tells The WA Government To Frack Off

John Butler has organized a show to protest the Western Australian government’s eagerness to profit from environmental destruction. The Frack Off Concert will raise awareness of the lunacy of the onshore gas industry in Western Australia.

In a statement, John Butler said, “Think about it this way: Who has the most to gain by telling you that the onshore gas industry is safe? The industry itself!

“We have nothing to gain by having an onshore gas industry in our state but everything to lose. OUR vested interest lies in our home and communities. Our Land. Our Water.

“THIS INVASIVE INDUSTRY puts our water, our tourism, our agricultural industries, our wineries and our health ALL at risk.

“The ticket price is really cheap because we want as many people as possible to come along and get informed about what the gas industry has planned for our region and our state. We want the community to be empowered by knowing that we have a voice in this and that there is something we can do about it. We can tell the gas industry to Frack Off! We can run these pirates out of town.”

The concert will feature the John Butler Trio, the Pigram Brothers from Broome, representing the Kimberley region, John’s wife Mama Kin and Ten Cent Shooters both from Margaret River as well as Perth-based actor and comedian Peter Rowsthorn as MC.

The concert event will take place on Saturday, November 26th at 3 Oceans Winery, between Busselton and Margaret River.

Frack Off! is presented by Jarrah Records, Gasfield Free Southwest and Lock the Gate to highlight the onshore gas industry’s current push to explore and drill in exploration leases covering nearly 50 million hectares of the state from the Southwest to the Mid West and the Kimberley.
