John Mellencamp’s Son Speck Arrested Again

Speck Mellencamp, the son of John Mellencamp, has been arrested again after a fight.

Speck, 22, and his brother Hud, 23, along with a friend, were sitting outside of a Jimmy John’s restaurant eating when another group went by and started to harass them. Speck returned the banter and the situation quickly devolved into a fight. Hud later said that he fled the scene when he heard sirens but Speck was still part of the altercation.

Hud was left with scratches to his neck and Speck had a cut above his eye. When police arrived, they said that Speck, who had been drinking, became “very belligerent and uncooperative”. While police tried to question him, he started cursing and kept trying to walk away, eventually refusing medical assistance.

When a friend told police he would take Speck home, he again tried to leave at which time the police detained him and, after a struggle, placed him under arrest for misdemeanor public intoxication and resisting law enforcement.

Hud did not receive any charges.

Speck was bailed out late Sunday afternoon after posting a $2,500 bond and has been scheduled for a pretrial hearing on September 6.

This isn’t the first time the two brothers, the sons of John and model Elaine Irwin have been arrested after a brawl. Back in 2013, they were arrested for felony battery but had the charges reduced to misdemeanors. Speck served four days in jail and one year of probation. Hud received 50 hours of community service.
