Jukebox Saturday Night, the DVD based around the late Ken Sparkes Saturday night music cable show, is the number one DVD in Australia.

Ken Sparkes, the legendary Australian disc jockey and television personality in the 60s and 70s, died suddenly at age 76 from a heart attack on 11 September 2016 while on holiday in France.

Ken had been hosting his television show ‘Jukebox Saturday Night’ on Foxtel’s Aurora channel right up to his death.

Shortly before his death, Ken produced his hosting parts for the Jukebox Saturday Night DVD, released in October by Fanfare. “Ken Sparkes was an extra special media personality that had an everlasting old world charm and quality about his delivery and passion for music,” Robert Rigby, founder of Fanfare Records tells Noise11.com. “He was still working at 76 on his beloved TV show Jukebox Saturday Night when he sadly passed away last September. Earlier in the year I had the great pleasure of working with him to create this special Songs from the 60’s DVD which was a labour of love for him especially. We are really thrilled and proud to have this DVD go Number 1 and know Ken would be very proud too.”

“This was simply the most exciting decade in music history ever! You asked for it so here is, sounds of the ’60s. What a collection of legendary stars who lit up the swinging ’60’s with their talents. This rare collection of videos, plus A 24 page photo & lyric booklet are yours to enjoy time and again,” Ken Sparkes said shortly before his passing.

At Graham Nash’s first Australian concert in Melbourne for the ‘Sixty Years of Songs & Stories’ tour Graham mentioned how David Crosby, Stephen Stills, Neil Young and himself often spoke to each other song. For us for fans, they were songs we bought, played, heard on the radio, loved, they are our classics, they are our soundtrack. To Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, they were letters between friends.
