Kanye West and Paul McCartney Collaborate On New Song

Kanye West has released a brand new song for New Year’s Day with Sir Paul McCartney.

The track ‘Only One’ was rush released to iTunes.

“For any of you guys who were wondering what I was doing with Kanye… Here it is: ‘Only One’. Happy rocking new year,” McCartney announced at his official website.

Kanye wrote the song about his late mother Donda. At his website it explains, “Kanye sat there with his family, holding his daughter North on his lap, and listened to his vocals, singing, ‘Hello, my only one…’ And in that moment, not only could he not recall having sung those words, but he realized that perhaps the words had never really come from him. The process of artistic creation is one that does not involve thinking, but often channeling. And he understood in that moment that his late mother, Dr. Donda West, who was also his mentor, confidante, and best friend, had spoken through him that day.”

‘Only One’ is expected to be one of at least two song McCartney and West collaborated on. The other song ‘Pass On My Grave’ was talked about late last year.

In the past Paul McCartney has recorded three songs with Michael Jackson. ‘The Girl Is Mine’ (1983) was released on Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ album while ‘Say Say Say’ and ‘The Man’ were released on McCartney’s ‘Pipes Of Peace’ (1983).

McCartney recorded two songs with Stevie Wonder. ‘Ebony and Ivory’ and ‘What’s That You’re Doing’ were both from Sir Paul’s ‘Tug of War’ (1982).

McCartney’s other collaborations include ‘The Very Thought of You’ with Tony Bennett (2006), ‘You Want Her Too’ with Elvis Costello (1989), ‘Bring It On Home To Me’ with George Benson (2006), ‘New Moon Over Jamaica’ with Johnny Cash (1988), ‘Together’ with Lulu (2002), ‘Heal The Pain’ with George Michael (2006) and ‘A Friend Like You’ with Brian Wilson (2004).
