Kinky Freedman and Ted Nugent Make Another Political Run In Texas

In that fine line between politics and comedy Kinky Friedman and Ted Nugent are putting their hands up again.

Kinky Friedman, who has run in the past for Texas Governor (2006 and 2010), is going this time for Texas Agriculture Commissioner campaigning around the legalisation of marijuana.

According to his campaign page:

Kinky wants to end the prohibition on the medical and personal use of marijuana in Texas. Further, Kinky intends to restore hemp as a top cash crop in Texas, much as it was until its prohibition almost a century ago. He intends to clearly show that legalizing pot is a states’ rights issue, as well as a rural development issue, an education funding issue, a water conservation issue, a health care issue, and a criminal justice issue.

It will affect every Texan.

Possibly running against Kinky, depending on the results of primaries to be held next year, is Representative Sid Miller who authored the controversial abortion sonogram law in 2011. Helping Miller in the position of co-chairman of the campaign and treasurer is none other than Ted Nugent.

Nugent calls Miller an “American blood brother” and told the Texas Tribune “I believe in guys who stand by the Constitution. I believe in guys who represent ‘we the people’ and common sense.”

Miller is a Republican while Kinky is going after the Democratic nomination. Others are seeking the Republican nod, including former baseball star Nolan Ryan.
