The pop star was devastated when Hurricane Sandy slammed her hometown last week, killing more than 100 Americans and leaving millions with no water or electricity.

In a post written on her Little Monsters blog on Wednesday, the star declared she would donate the sum to the American Red Cross.

“If it wasn’t for NYC: the Lower Eastside, Harlem, the Bronx and Brooklyn, I would not be the woman or artist that I am today,” she wrote, adding, “New York is relentless ambition, a drive to succeed, a place where there is a natural pursuit of diversity through compassion.”

The 26-year-old, who went to private school in Manhattan and first pursued her music career in downtown nightclubs, hopes the money will make a difference.

The Poker Face hitmaker, real name Stefani Germanotta, asked fans to accept the gift on behalf of her family.

“Please accept this gift on behalf of myself, my parents Joe and Cynthia, and my sister Natali; with our deepest gratitude to New York for raising us,” she continued. “Thank you for helping me build my spirit. I will now help you rebuild yours. Sincerely, Lady Gaga and The Germanottas.’
