Lil Wayne feels like a ‘prisoner’ at Cash Money Records.

The 32-year-old Grammy-winning rapper has been signed with the label since he was nine years old.

But on Thursday Wayne made it clear he was ready to leave Cash Money after being with them since 1991 because his forthcoming album, The Carter V, has been delayed.

‘I am a prisoner and so is my creativity Again,I am truly sorry and I don’t blame ya if ya fed up with waiting 4 me & this album. But thk u (sic),’ he wrote to his over 19 million Twitter followers.

The Carter V was originally due for release December 9.

However, Wayne claims Cash Money isn’t planning on putting out the album at all.

‘To all my fans, I want u to know that my album won’t and hasn’t been released bekuz Baby & Cash Money Rec. refuse to release it,’ he tweeted. ‘This is not my fault. I am truly and deeply sorry to all my fans but most of all to myself and my family for putting us in this situation.’

Wayne was appointed president of Cash Money Records in 2005, but he stepped down from the management position in 2007.

Now he would like to be entirely relinquished from his contract with the company.

‘I want off this label and nothing to do with these people but unfortunately it ain’t that easy,’ Wayne lamented on the micro-blogging site.

The hip-hop legend has released 11 solo albums thus far and The Carter V would have been his 12th offering.
