Moving away from the dance fuelled ‘Hard Candy’ songs, ‘Masterpiece’ is a Madonna ballad with the pace of ‘Live To Tell’, ‘Crazy For You’ and ‘I’ll Remember’.

‘W.E.’ was written and directed by Madonna. According to it is about the affair between King Edward VIII and American divorcee Wallis Simpson and a contemporary romance between a married woman and a Russian security guard.

‘Masterpiece’ is expected to be released on her forthcoming album for Universal Music due early 2012.

Madonna will also release a new single featuring M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj in the new year. The video is done and was directed by Megaforce. The photoshoot for the album was done late this week by Mert & Marcus with art direction from Giovanni Bianco.

Madonna will be back in 2012.
