Part one of the two-part season finale is a veritable whos who of the pop world as superstars Iggy Azelea, Nicki Minaj, Miley Cyrus and Lorde receive a South Park send up. Michael Jackson also gets in on the action… as a hologram of course!
South Park has featured a recurring story line this season involving the revelation that teenage New Zealand pop star Lorde is in fact the alter ego of Randy Marsh, a 45 year old male geologist and Stan’s dad.
In tonight’s episode Lorde, or Randy, appears at a benefit concert ‘ Night of Pure Oestrogen: Women of Rock ‘ to address the gluten crisis in Africa.
Randy/Lorde is a little hesitant to take the stage without his precious auto-tune, to which his manager responds, ‘It’s not about the music, it’s about comments,’ adding, ‘You think what those people out there care what you sound like?’
Randy responds that he wants to act as a positive role model to young girls, a decree that irks Iggy Azalea to chime in with, ‘That’s easy for you to say, you don’t have a nice body.’ Which then of course, leads to a full scale cat fight!
