Macklemore and Ryan Lewis Same Love Spends 4th Week At No 1

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are at No.1 on the ARIA Singles chart for fourth week with their track “Same Love”.

The song also picks up a new sales certification of 2x▲ Platinum.

Gavin Ryan from Australian-charts.com reports that this also the eleventh straight week that Macklemore has occupied the top spot in Australia with his two No.1’s. The last act to spend this many weeks at the No.1 position here were The Black Eyed Peas with their two back-to-back chart-toppers “Boom Boom Pow” (6 weeks from 18-May-2009) and “I Gotta Feeling” (7 weeks from 29-June-2009), a total of thirteen weeks.

Macklemore’s former No.1 “Thrift Shop” is down a couple of places and is now 7x▲, plus it’s back to it’s original Top 10 entry position of No.4, having spent its thirteen weeks inside the Top 10 at either #1,#2,#3 or #4, whilst the album both tracks are taken from; “The Heist” is at No.5 this week.

2012 UK X-Factor winner James Arthur jumps again this week (so far 50-24-10-2) with his version of the track “Impossible”, up to No.2 and now certified ● (Gold) in sales. If he takes the No.1 position he will be only the second UK XF contestant to do so, after Leona Lewis reached the top with “Bleeding Love” in January of 2008 (5 weeks). Also climbing to a new peak are Birds of Tokyo, up one place to No.3 with “Lanterns”.

After two weeks at No.3, The Lumineers drop two places to No.5 with “Ho Hey”, but leaping into the Top 10 after a No.58 debut last week, up fifty-one places this week, are the Bingo Players with Far East Movement and the track “Get Up (Rattle)”. Down one spot to No.8 is Bruno Mars with “When I Was Your Man”, but falling four places each is “Scream & Shout” for Will.i.am & Britney Spears and “I Love it” for Icona Pop (now 4x▲) to No.9 and No.10 respectively.

NEW – #6 – Just Give Me a Reason – P!NK feat Nate Ruess (of Fun.)

The third single from this weeks No.3 album “The Truth About Love” by P!nk debuts at No.6 entitled “Just Give Me a Reason”, and is duet with the lead singer from the group Fun, Nate Ruess. This new track becomes P!nk’s 30th ARIA Singles chart entry, and is instantly her 21st Top 10 hit in Australia.

NEW PEAKS & MOVERS: Neon Trees rise two places to No.12 with “Everybody Talks”, with recent tourists Swedish House Mafia and “Don’t You Worry Child” holding at No.16 this week, and returning to the Top 20, up ten places to No.19 is David Guetta and Sia with “She Wolf (Falling to Pieces)” which is heavily used in the Season 3 promos for ‘Downton Abbey’.

After charging back into the Top 50 last week, Flume rises up three places to No.22 with “Holdin’ On”, but right behind him, jumping up twenty-two places to No.23 is Avicii with “I Could Be the One”. Of Monsters and Men are in the country at the moment (Friday & Saturday at the Laneway Festival), and with their album scoring the No.1 position in the country this week, the second single from the album “Mountain Sound” jumps up nine places to No.39, and lastly thanks to it’s use in ads at the moment, Youngblood Hawke jump up forty-eight places to No.43 with “We Come Running”.

DOWN DOWN: Leaving the Top10 this week is “Little Talks” by Of Monsters and Men and “Beneath Your Beautiful” for Labrinth & Emeli Sande. After scoring a new peak last week, Rudimental’s second hit “Not Giving in” (now 2x▲) drops nine places to No.21, and falling three spots to No.24 is Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z with “Suit & Tie” (now ●). After cracking the Top 20 last week, both “C’Mon” for Ke$ha and “Best Night” for Justice Crew both drop seven places to No.26 and No.27 respectively.

Rihanna’s “Diamonds” drop eight spots to No.40 and down ten places to No.52 are Sam & The Womp with “Bom Bom”. Down six places to No.44 after a JJJ return last week are Hermitude with “Hyperparadise”. Other Triple J Top 50 evacuators include “Breezeblocks” for Alt-J (41 to 55), “Feel the Love” for Rudimental (37 to 59), “Latch” for Disclosure (49 to 67), “Get Free” by Major Lazer (39 to 68), “Claire de Lune” for Flight Facilities (50 to 78) and the biggest fall of the week, “Lost” for Frank Ocean fell forty-three places to No.89.

NEW – #36 – YOLO – The LONELY ISLAND feat Adam Levine & Kendrick Lamar

The comedy trio The Lonely Island debut at No.36 with their sixth chart entry “Yolo” (You Only Live Once), featuring Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine and rapper Kendrick Lamar. It also becomes the lads’ fourth Top 50 single after “Jizz in My Pants” (HP-10, peaked late March 2009), “I’m on a Beat” (HP-14, peaked mid-May 2009) and “I Just Had Sex” (HP-10, peaked January 2011). This new track is taken from their forthcoming untitled third album due before mid-year.

NEW – #36 – My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light ‘em Up) – FALL OUT BOY

Returning to the ARIA Singles chart with their first new material in just over three years are Fall Out Boy who debut at No.36 with “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light ‘em Up)”, and becomes the bands ninth ARIA Singles chart entry. The band last appeared in November of 2009 with “Alpha Dog” (HP-60), and this new track is the lead single from their early May due sixth album “Save Rock and Roll”. This new track also becomes their eighth Top 40 hit, with the aforementioned “Alpha Dog” being their only non-high-flying hit.

NEW – #50 – It’s Time – IMAGINE DRAGONS

Las Vegas based alternative rock band Imagine Dragons score their first chart entry in Australia with the track “It’s Time”, the song having reached No.15 in the USA and Top 30 in Canada (so far), the track is taken from their debut album “Night Visions” (released here 1st of March).

Lower 50: Two weeks ago, Ne-Yo debuted at No.51 with “Forever Now”, and this week the track rebound eight places back to that original entry position. Porter Robinson jumps up seventeen places to a new peak of No.62 with “Language”, and up eleven places to No.64 is Flume with T.Shirt and the track “On Top”. Phillip Phillips is back up five places to No.66 with “Home” (HP-56), also back up five spots are Haim with “Don’t Save Him” (HP-66).

Justin Bieber leaps twenty-two places to No.73 with his new single “Nothing Like Us”, and Ellie Goulding is back up eight places to No.84 with “Anything Could Happen” (HP-20). The only two tracks returning to the Top 100 this week are “A Thousand Years” (HP-13) for Christina Perri at No.93, and recent tourist Swedish House Mafia return at No.99 with “Save the World” (HP-62).

The third single from Rita Ora’s “Ora” album (HP-24) debuts at No.56 entitled “Radioactive”. It’s currently Top 20 in the UK, and follows on from her two Top 10 hits “How We Do (Party)” (HP-9×2, peaked mid-June 2012) and “R.I.P.” (HP-10×2, peaked early October 2012). This becomes her fourth charting single in Australia, as prior to her two Top 10 hits, she was guest vocalist on the DJ Fresh track “Hot Right Now” (HP-46, peaked early April 2012).

Another British singer who debuts this week is Dizzee Rascal who enters at No.63 with “Bassline Junkie” his seventh overall ARIA Top 100 Singles Chart entry. Dizzee was last on our charts in June of 2010 with “Dirtee Disco” (HP-68), and has so far had two No.13 hits here, “Dance Wiv’ Me” (peaked early October 2008) and “Bonkers” (peaked early August 2009).

The third and final entry in the lower fifty this week is the first entry from A$AP Rocky, who debuts at No.85 with “F**kin’ Problems”, featuring Drake, 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar as guest rapper on the track, and it’s taken from this weeks No.57 album “Long Live A$AP” (HP-7), with the single currently Top 10 in the USA.
