Matthew Morrison paid tribute to his Glee co-star Cory Monteith at the weekend.

The actor who plays Finn Hudson’s mentor and teacher, Mr. Shuester, on the show devoted a performance on Sunday to the star who passed away aged 31.

The screen hunk was found dead in his hotel room in Vancouver, Canada on Saturday.

“Matt came out before the show started and said, ”We lost a great young man too soon,”” a source told Us Weekly. “He said Cory was a beautiful person. You came out to see a show, I came out to do one, so let’s honor Cory with this performance.”

Matthew belted out a Broadway tune to acknowledge the sudden loss of his colleague on the hit musical drama at his show Up Close and Personal with Matthew Morrison.

During a gig at 54 Below in New York City, Matthew allegedly referred to the tragic star as a brother.

“He was very emotional on stage,” the insider continued. “It was difficult for him to get up to perform, but he did not want to disappoint anyone.”

He sang What I Did For Love, a tune from A Chorus Line, according to the New York Post.

The track featured on Season 2 of Glee and was sung by his real-life partner Lea Michele.

‘”We ask that everyone kindly respect Lea’s privacy during this devastating time,” the actress’ representative said after the death was confirmed.

Cory was pronounced dead in his room at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel and an autopsy will be done on July 15.

“We are so saddened to confirm that the reports on the death of Cory Monteith are accurate,” the actor”s spokesperson declared in a statement. “We are in shock and mourning this tragic loss.”
