In March, Bad Company guitarist Mick Ralphs announced that he would not be touring with the group and Joe Walsh during the summer as it was “something I’m just not feeling up for at the moment”. Bad Company brought in Rich Robinson of the Black Crowes for the trek.

Ralphs eventually felt better and went out with the band for a U.K. tour that ended last Saturday in London; however, earlier today, it was announced that Mick is now in a hospital where he was recovering from a stroke.

Following the Bad Company UK tour that wound up last Saturday at London’s 02 Arena, the family and representatives of the band’s co-founder, guitarist and songwriter Mick Ralphs are sad to announce that Mick has suffered a stroke.

Mick is receiving excellent medical care and is recovering in hospital, although all his public engagements are necessarily on hold, pending his improvement.

Everyone is wishing Mick a speedy recovery, and further news will be announced at the appropriate time.

Mick Ralps Band singer Adam Barron also posted:

Ralphs was a founding member of Mott the Hoople in 1969 and stayed with them until 1973 when he left to form Bad Company with Paul Rodgers of Free. Among his compositions are Can’t Get Enough, Movin’ On, Feel Like Makin’ Love and Oh, Atlanta.

I could go to a James Taylor show just for the stories. The man is a part of music history and is still around to tell the tales of how it all began. Like, for instance, being the first artist signed to Apple Records. James “auditioned” for Apple with his song ‘Something In The Way She Moves’. "Paul went away and started the label and George went away and wrote the song”, he said.
