Molly’s Simple Minds cover is the key track from her first ever album ‘Except Sometimes’.

Molly Ringwald starred in the 1985 John Hughes movie alongside Emilio Estevez, Judd Nelson and Ally Sheedy. Collectively they become known as The Brat Pack, a homage to Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr and Dean Martin who also starred together often in movies.

Simple Minds ‘Don’t You (Forget About Me) was the main theme for the movie.

‘Except Sometimes’ is a jazz record. It follows a tradition in jazz for the Ringwald family set by her father. “I grew up in a home filled with music and had an early appreciation of jazz since my dad was a jazz musician [pianist Bob Ringwald]. Beginning at around age three I started singing with his band and jazz music has continued to be one of my three passions along with acting and writing. I like to say jazz music is my musical equivalent of comfort food. It’s always where I go back to when I want to feel grounded,” Molly said in a statement.

An actress of both stage and screen, Molly was cast in Paul Mazursky’s film Tempest at the age of thirteen. Her performance as Miranda, the daughter of John Cassavetes and Gena Rowlands, earned her a Golden Globe nomination, and she went on to star in numerous films, including The Pick-Up Artist, For Keeps, Fresh Horses, Betsy’s Wedding, Cindy Sherman’s Office Killer, Billy Bob Thornton’s short film Some Folks Call It a Sling Blade, Jean-Luc Godard’s King Lear, and the now-iconic John Hughes’ movies Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, and Pretty in Pink.

A complete list of tracks featured on Except Sometimes is as follows:
1. Sooner Or Later
2. I Get Along Without You Very Well
3. I Believe In You
4. I’ll Take Romance
5. The Very Thought Of You
6. Exactly Like You
7. Where Is Love
8. Pick Yourself Up
9. Ballad Of The Sad Young Men
10. Don’t You (Forget About Me)

Universal Music will release Molly Ringwald ‘Except Sometimes’ on April 5 through Concord Records.

James Taylor Farewells Australia With Final Tour (Melbourne Review)

I could go to a James Taylor show just for the stories. The man is a part of music history and is still around to tell the tales of how it all began. Like, for instance, being the first artist signed to Apple Records. James “auditioned” for Apple with his song ‘Something In The Way She Moves’. "Paul went away and started the label and George went away and wrote the song”, he said.
