David Bowie’s Death Signals A Change In Society

by Paul Cashmere on January 11, 2016

in News

The death of David Bowie signals a cultural change in society.

The constant of Bowie was an anchor is music. Now that that anchor has gone, and as more go, I dread to think what 30 years from now will look like musically. We already have a creative void in music.

The rubbish we have dished up from Bieber, Swift and watered down cordial like Maroon 5 makes me wonder if anyone will care about anything musically in the not to distant future. Swift, Bieber, Maroon 5 will never translate to Gold/Classic hits stations.

Since 2000 there has been nothing to compare to the past. In any other era Adele would be considered average, Buble is a very good covers act, Swift is her dads creation, Pink is Linda Perry’s creation (and seriously she does not write her own songs, hired songwriters put her thoughts to music and I have interviewed them) and the great hopes like The Killers and Linkin Park are already forgotten. Kanye West, Ricky Gervais was talking about YOU at the Golden Globes today when he talked about people marrying into society (just in case it went over your head).

If today’s artists cannot strive for excellence then they do not deserve to be praised because they have a no 1 record. Today we lost a legend and he will never be replaced.
