Ray LaMontagne is a last minute drop-out at SXSW and in somewhat of a bizarre program choice, metal band Deftones will take his slot.
LaMontagne was scheduled to headline the free SXSW Outdoor Stage at Lady Bird Lake in Austin on Friday night.
The line-up also features Carson McHone, Parker Milsap, Brian Fallon and Thao & The Get Down Stay Down. Deftones will take over the headline slot at 8pm.
“While we are disappointed by this turn of events, we are beyond excited to announce that alternative rock band Deftones will be performing in place of Ray LaMontagne tomorrow night at 8:00PM,” SXSW announced.
Deftones are in Austin to showcase their upcoming eighth studio album Gore, which is set to be released on April 8.
Ray LaMontagne was promoting his new album ‘Ouroboros’.
