Actress-and-singer Hilary Duff admits she can’t have it all now she’s a mother, as she feels guilty leaving her son to work.
The former Lizzie McGuire star has little boy Luca, three, with estranged husband Mike Comrie and is often spotted out with the adorable tot. She’s slowly returned to the spotlight with acting roles and new music since becoming a parent, but Hilary is aware her life will never be the same as before.
“It’s hard to say that you really can have it all,” she sighed to Redbook magazine. “I think you can to a certain degree, but fully loaded, pedal-all-the-way-down is tough. You’re missing out on something, either on the career or on the family. When I’m really busy with work, I feel extremely guilty.”
Hilary filed for divorce from Mike in February (15) after four-and-a-half years of marriage, but the former couple remain on good terms for the sake of their son. While the blonde beauty has admitted to dabbling with dating app Tinder and enjoying single life, she hasn’t entirely ruled out walking down the aisle again one day.
“I don’t want to say I wouldn’t get married again, but it’s not important to me,” she explained. “I don’t feel I would need to be married to have another child. If I felt strongly enough toward someone or if someone felt strongly about it, I might say OK. But it’s not essential.”
She also touched upon how she came to terms with her post-baby body after giving birth in March 2012. Hilary recalls how “huge” she was while shopping for breast pumps and the scrutiny she faced from the media: “The next day (in the tabloids) it was like, ‘Hilary debuts post-baby bod!’ And I was like, ‘That’s not a debut! That’s an errand!’ It was such a happy time that honestly I didn’t care; it wasn’t until later that I realised how mean and invasive it was.”
